Ari Benjamin Meyers in Conversation

Corbett vs. Dempsey is pleased to welcome Berlin-based artist Ari Benjamin Meyers for a public conversation with John Corbett. Meyers will discuss the film Marshall Allen, 99, Astronaut, currently on view in CvsD's screening room, The Vault, in the context of Meyers' broader practice, which includes installation, performance, and musical compsition, as well as moving image. The film features alto saxophonist Allen, who, two years later, is now 101 years old and who remains at the helm of the Sun Ra Arkestra. Meyers shot the charged 13-minute work in the Arkestra's longtime residence in Germantown, Pennsylvania, outside Philadelphia. As an added treat, a previously unheard rehearsal tape of Ra and Allen from the 1960s will be auditioned.
