Press Release

THOMAS H. KAPSALIS
ARTIST’S HOUSE
PAINTINGS & SCULPTURE 1947-2008
at the Brauer Museum of Art
December 4, 2009 – March 21, 2010

The wonderful Chicago abstract artist Thomas H. Kapsalis is the focus of a 60-year survey of paintings and sculpture at the Brauer Museum of Art at Valparaiso University in Indiana.  Curated by John Corbett and Jim Dempsey, the exhibition features more than 40 Kapsalis works from 1949 to the present.  The adjacent gallery includes a nice selection of Chicago works from the Brauer’s permanent collection, including pieces by Ted Halkin, Gladys Nilsson, Robert Lostutter, William Schwedler, Richard Hunt, Roger Brown, William Conger, Ed Paschke, and others.  A fully illustrated catalog accompanies the exhibition, along with a video biography by Michele Feder-Nadoff.

Valparaiso is an easy hour-long drive from Chicago, so don’t miss this opportunity to see a range of works by one of the midwest’s most vital and venerable artists.
